Nikola Topić is set to miss four to six weeks due to a groin injury requiring a testicular procedure. The rookie aimed to be a part of Oklahoma City’s bench but will not be available for the season opener. Topić’s absence provides Ajay Mitchell a chance for increased playing time as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s backup, although Mitchell remains a non-factor in most fantasy drafts. Topić, the 12th overall pick in 2024, is still eyeing his NBA debut.

Nikola Topić made his mark in Sunday’s dominant win over the Hornets, posting 10 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and a steal in 31 minutes. Returning after a missed rookie season due to an ACL tear, Topić showcased promise in the Summer League and continues to impress in preseason. However, Oklahoma City’s depth could make securing substantial playing time a challenge for him in the upcoming season.
